When I first heard of the “Chairs for Souls” church building fund, I longed to give in whatever way I could.
Not long later, I received an email titled “The Great Nissan Car Squeeze Challenge @ Cathay”. This piqued my interest and reading on, my eyes found the words “Grand Prize”.
Lo and behold, it was a brand new Nissan car!
I recalled Pastor Jeff sharing a story of a sister who sold her long hair for a wig, just to give to the church building fund.
That got me thinking: “Which part of my body can I offer to God?” I do not have long hair to sell, but God has blessed me with a heart of perseverance and leadership skills.
Though it felt like an impossible feat, who was I to limit what God could do? Besides, if we win, exchanging 1 car which only has 5 seats for 140 seats sounds really awesome!
With that, I got to work, inviting all my church friends to join me. Together with my team, we jostled and squeezed our way past the qualifiers, then to the finals, where we eventually won! We sold the car, and donated the full sale amount to the building fund.
15 years later, this miracle is still very real to my heart. Big or small, all of us can contribute to the church in our own unique ways.
